In my work I am constantly trying to value simplicity and bring it down to the essence. Eliminate the exaggeration and reduce the information, displaying only the necessary: form, colours and structure.

This need of constant simplifying is born out of the exaggeration wherein we find ourselves nowadays. The exacerbated attraction for the consumption leading to spiritual and body detachment.

Individuality does not guarantee exclusiveness as promised by the media. The body, in its natural perfection, does not recognize its beauty. Today, clothes trespass its practical value and establish itself as an extension of the flesh.

In Relíquias  (relics) clothes are braided together by crochet technique creating a combination of different personalities, inviting to analyse the character from what has been worn. Reality is hidden by heavy layers of pigment powder which  acts like an antidote against individuality.

Tied to one another, coloured and framed we are left with the remains, the essence, the common denominator. Relíquias is a series of portraits of various personalities where social and moral values; cultural, economic and religious differences are portrayed from recycled clothing encouraging the viewers to question their own values.
